Take a Minute
You probably have small rituals that you perform everyday. I know I do. Sometimes I can't even really remember having brushed my teeth on a particular day because it is so engrained I do it automatically. It is a habit that has become a lifestyle.
There is a ritual that is good to add into the daily routine from the spiritual perspective. Maybe you've already discovered it. It is the daily examination of conscious. This is the time where you stop and review the last twenty four hours for any pesky little sins that have wormed their way into your life.
We know that to receive forgiveness of our sins we need only ask, right? 1 John 1:9 says; "If we confess our sins, He is faithful and righteous to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness." But it's hard to confess what we don't know is there.
I'm sure it's true that we wouldn't need much of a reminder if we murdered someone or robbed a bank but there are subtler things which creep in unnoticed. This is where asking the Holy Spirit to reveal our heart works wonders. Is there an attitude that is unloving? Are we judging others? How about secret thoughts that are leading nowhere but the gutter?
The daily examination of conscious will take care of such things so they won't likely turn into murder or robbery. Do you want to be cleansed of all unrighteousness? Examine your conscious every day. It will just take a minute.
