Who's the Boss?

I am a very decisive person. I always have been. Most things are black or white to me so I don't have to stew or procrastinate over decisions very much. Once I have made my decision I usually don't waffle or second guess it either; I just move on.yellow flower trellis

But with a person like me, there is a problem. I have to ask myself often: who's the boss? I can run my own life pretty easily but that's not what I signed on for. When I gave my life to Jesus Christ in August of 1977, I surrendered my will in favor of his. I told God he could do anything he wanted with me for the rest of my life. Of course that doesn't work very well if I keep making all the decisions.

It helps me to remind myself of this: "In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct your paths." (Proverbs 3:6) Acknowledging God through each step of my life means I have to slow way down and that's another toughie for me. I have to stop before a decision and ask if it his choice for me. The payoff to that is the promise that he will then direct my path.

Do you ever find yourself on a perilous path and wonder how you got there? I've done it. I think it means we skipped a step. That's when we need to go back and ask the original question once again: Who's the boss?
